This October, we’re promoting our founding SME members including Tideford Organic, The People’s Supermarket, and Farmdrop, in a month-long campaign celebrating open, honest businesses. It’ll be a chance for you to discover the stories, facts and information behind pioneering businesses and their products.
Food provenance drives purchase
In a study by Ingredient Communications, 72% of UK millennials are willing to pay more for products from companies committed to positive social and environmental impact. Research by Elementar UK reveals that when purchasing food products, 8 in 10 shoppers check the origin.
Provenance exists to empower us all to make positive choices about what to buy. Our platform enables businesses to take steps toward greater transparency, showcasing the story and data that makes their products great – in-store and online.
In the past 12 months alone, we’ve used our technology to digitally prove the authenticity of organic products with The Soil Association, as well as track slavery-free fish and fairly-traded coconuts through international supply chains. What’s next? We’re going local!
Dorest Dairy and Lycross Farm are among the #OpenOctober founding members using Provenance to share their business values and product origins
Supporting the makers and sellers of British food
This October, we’re using our platform to support British food producers and retailers through #OpenOctober. The campaign promotes brands and businesses sharing information about the origin and histories of food products, empowering shoppers with the knowledge to choose according to their values and preferences.
What’s in store? We’ll be promoting our #OpenOctober founding members on Twitter and Instagram, featuring the people, places and processes behind some fantastic British brands and products. Our members include Tideford Organic, The People’s Supermarket, Farmdrop, and Primrose’s Kitchen – British brands known for their commitment to local sourcing and sustainability, as well as product ranges with authentic “free-from” and organic claims.
Take part in #OpenOctober
Show your support! You can take part by promoting the #OpenOctober campaign to your social networks. We’ve composed a Tweet you can edit and share with your networks through Thunderclap, which launches them all together on 10 October for greater buzz!
We’re also always on the lookout for great food and drinks businesses. Shoppers can email hello@provenance.org to suggest other brands they’d like to see sharing information on the platform. If you’re a UK-based producer or retailer, you can join Provenance by signing up at provenance.org.
